SCT Flash Tuning

SCT Flash 1Aitkenvale Auto & Dyno does not recommend generic tunes for this climate, or this region with it's differing fuel qualities. We dyno tune our customers' vehicles individually & carefully, & load the final tune into the new X-Cal 3 unit for flashing into the vehicle's pcm. As an example,  with a turbo'd vehicle you can gain up to an extra 40 -50 kw & 150 - 200 nm at the wheels, with better throttle response & auto shifting, & even improved fuel economy if driven accordingly. The N/A V8's & 6's usually gain 15 - 25 kw, & 50 - 100nm at the wheels. Midrange torque improvement  is quite noticeable on the road, as is improved fuel economy with the N/A vehicles.

Some of the parameters we can edit include; diff ratio change; transmission gear selection firmness (individual gears, & previously only on 4 speed autos, but now available for 6 speed ZF transmissions too), rev limit; turbo boost level, idle speed; injector sizing; fuel & spark settings etc.

The cost of a flash box & edit varies depending on the vehicle:

  • Auto BA - BF - FG Turbo 6 cost is $1785
  • Auto BA - BF - FG V8 & 6 cyl. supercharged cost is $1785
  • Manual BA - BF - FG V8 supercharged cost is $1725
  • Manual BA - BF - FG Turbo 6 cost is $1725
  • Auto BA - BF - FG N/A V8 or 6 cost is $1625
  • Manual BA - BF - FG N/A V8 or 6 cost is $1585

To tune a supplied flash box can cost up to $1100. To retune one of ours is subject to requirements. May be charged at the current hourly dyno rate.

We tune all vehicles while using the "Knock Box" detonation sensing equipment.    

SCT Flash 3Vehicles still under factory warranty can be tuned with this system. If the vehicle needs to be returned to the dealer for repairs etc, the factory tune which is stored in the flash box, can be easily flashed back to the vehicles' pcm beforehand. When the car's returned, in goes the good tune again, & your warranty stays valid. Note the new Flash 3 pictured at right is more expensive than the old Flash 1 & 2 units due to enhanced features.
